Wonder Project

This week in Te Ngahere we have started the Wonder Project. The
Wonder Project is a free program to get New Zealand kids excited
about science, Technology and engineering. For this term there will
be two people coming every Wednesday. Their names are Gustavo
and Troy. Troy works with the Far North District Council as a
stormwater engineer and Gustavo works as a Pomologists and he
studies the biology of fruit and their development. Right now
Gustavo is working with Kiwi fruit in kerikeri. Each week we will be learning a little bit more about rockets. This week we had to choose
2 jobs from a list after we had to find out a little bit about them, the
two I chose was Environmental scientist and a biologist. By the end
of the eight weeks we would of built a rocket in our groups.
Has your Class done the Wonder Project?

Learning Te Reo

This week in Te Ngahere we are learning Te Reo from a book called
“Nga Mahi Parekareka Kei te Marae” which  means “Fun at the
Marae”. This week we began with the basics like how to pronounce
words and the other basic things. We will be reading the book to
younger kids in our school in Te Reo and then they will read it to us in
english. When we started the teacher said it was like learning to read
and it was. I was asking my buddie.  Am I saying it right. When we had
done it for two days the teacher told us to do a game of memory, I
won the last round.
Do you know how to speak Te Reo?

Amazing Touch Rugby

On Monday half of Te Ngahere went out to the field to play some
touch rugby there were these two people one called Henry and the
other called Jason he's a student at BOIC ( Bay of islands college). The
first thing Henry asked us to do was if anyone would like to take the
exercisers and someone in our class said yes. We did them for about
15 minutes then we moved onto some drills. We got into groups of
3-4 people in a group. Then we did some passing after passing we
moved onto how to play the ball. The group I was in got into a rhythm
until we finally got to play a game of touch. The game was fun even
though the score was 0-0. After the first half of the class the second
half went and played. What I found fun was dong the drills but the
hard bit was when we had to go back when the other team was
playing the ball.
Have you ever played touch?
